Marvin Help

Health Dashboard

Overview

The Health Dashboard is a check-up for your whole Marvin setup. It gives you a Health Score from 0 to 100 and flags things that quietly make your list harder to face, like an overloaded Today, overdue tasks, recurring tasks piling up, or projects that have gone quiet. Then it helps you clear them one at a time.

Opening it

Open the main menu (☰). At the top, next to your account, you'll see Health with your current score. Click it to open Marvin Health. There's nothing to turn on.

The Health Dashboard is on the web and desktop apps.

Your score

The big number is your Health Score. Under it, Marvin tells you how things look, from Looking good! down to Time for cleanup, and you'll see a smaller score for each area: Focus, Stress, Clutter, Direction and Planning.

A perfect 100 means nothing is flagged. Anything you mark as Not an issue for me stops counting against your score.

What it checks

  • Today is overloaded: more tasks scheduled for today than a focused day holds.

  • Recurring tasks piling up: recurring tasks with three or more open occurrences.

  • Overdue tasks and Overdue projects

  • Urgent tasks still open, Dreaded tasks still open and Things weighing on you

  • Stale inbox items: inbox items that have sat unprocessed for a while.

  • Too many open tasks

  • Inactive projects: active projects with no activity for a long time.

  • No active goals

  • Too many active projects, no priorities set (no Most Important Projects picked)

  • Stale habits

  • Stuck in Orbit

  • Old tasks and Old projects

  • Trash not emptied

  • Most tasks have no time estimate and Most tasks have no size

Checks tied to a feature (like Goals, Habits, Orbit or time estimates) only appear if you use that feature. Click a card to see why it matters and a tip.

Fixing things

Each card has buttons for quick fixes. A few examples:

  • Recurring tasks piling up: Keep just one of each switches just the flagged recurring tasks to "Keep just one", so you see one task instead of a stack. Nothing is deleted, and switching back to "Keep them all" brings every occurrence back. See Recurring tasks.

  • Today is overloaded: Process one at a time, Clean up today, or Unschedule all (Unschedule all and add to Orbit if you use Orbit).

  • Inactive projects: Move all to Backburner or Review individually.

  • Trash not emptied: View Trash or Empty Trash.

The guided sweep

Buttons like Review 12 tasks open a sweep that shows one item at a time with a short tip and quick actions, such as Plan when to do it, Change deadline or Mark done for overdue items. Use Back and Next (or the left and right arrow keys) to move along.

Reviewed (or Still relevant / Keep active) means "this is fine": it hides the item for a while, then checks again later. Overdue, urgent, dreaded and weighing items keep showing until you actually deal with them.

When you finish, you'll see Nice work! and your updated score.

Settings

Click the gear icon in the Health Dashboard to open Health Settings:

  • Thresholds: sliders for when checks kick in, for example Max tasks in Today (8), Days before flagging stale inbox items (7), Days of inactivity (90), Days in Orbit before flagging (30) and Age before tasks and projects count as old (180).

  • Issue tracking: turn off any check you don't want flagged.

Tip: You don't need to clear everything. Start with the area that has the lowest score and do one short sweep.
