Overview
You can make a task repeat just by typing it. Type "water plants daily" and Marvin adds "water plants" as a recurring task. Nothing to click, so you can keep typing.
Screenshot to add: Quick add with "water plants daily" typed and the Recur pill showing "Repeated the day after completion"
Where it works
Web and desktop: in the task input, including Quick Add (spacebar). The Recur pill under the input fills in as you type, so you can see what Marvin understood before you press Enter.
Mobile: in the add sheet. The Recur pill fills in the same way.
Braindump, on web and mobile.
What you can type
daily, everyday, every day, each day, once a day: After completion, 1 day
every morning / afternoon / evening / night: After completion, 1 day (in braindump it also goes into that part of the day)
every other day, every second day: After completion, 2 days
every 3 days, every three days: After completion, that many days
weekly, every week, each week, once a week: After completion, 7 days
every other week, every second week, biweekly, fortnightly, every fortnight: After completion, 14 days
every 2 weeks, every two weeks: After completion, that many weeks
monthly, every month, each month, once a month: After completion, 30 days
every 2 months: After completion, 30 days per month
quarterly, every quarter, once a quarter: After completion, 90 days
yearly, annually, every year, each year, once a year: After completion, 365 days
every Monday, every Mon and Thu, every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday: Those specific days of the week (up to four days)
weekdays, workdays, every weekday, every business day: Monday to Friday
weekends, on weekends, every weekend, at the weekend: Saturday and Sunday
Numbers can be digits or words up to twelve. A day of the week only counts with "every" in front of it: "every Monday" repeats, but "call Sam Monday" doesn't.
The repeat words are removed from the task's name. If the repeat words are the whole title (just "daily"), nothing repeats and that becomes the title.
Not what you meant?
On web, delete the repeat words and the Recur pill clears again.
Or click the Recur pill, choose Off and click Don't repeat. Your words stay in the title, so "Read the Daily Mail" stays as it is.
Choosing a repeat from the Recur pill always wins over anything you typed.
Settings
This is part of Natural Language Processing (in the Interactions group of Features).
Read repeats from the text: turns typed repeats on or off (on). The Recur pill still works when it's off.
Tip: Want a recurring task to repeat on fixed dates instead of after completion? Type it, then click the Recur pill and change the pattern before you press Enter.
